Beta 2 of WordPress 5.7 is now available for review!
This software is still in progress, so running this version on a production site is not recommended. To play with it, consider setting up a test site.
The 5.7 Beta 2 WordPress can be checked in two ways:
Install/enable the WordPress Beta Tester plugin (select the channel Bleeding Edge and the stream Beta/RC Only)
Download the beta edition direct here (zip).
March 09, 2021 is the latest target for final publication. That’s only four weeks out, so to make sure the final release is as good as it can be, your input is crucial.
Certain Highlights
There have been 38 bugs fixed since Beta 1. A description of some of the modifications included is given here:
- To enhance usability and readability, the italicized text was removed (#47326)
- When closing the media modal (#48562), pause any media playing.
- Add script loaders for Content-Security-Policy (#39941)
- Several corrections (#50454, #52432, #52433, #52473, #52477, #52374) for the Twenty Twenty-One theme
- Custom Spacing Gutenberg editor help (#51760)
- Menu UI problems on medium-large screen sizes resolved (#49576)
- Admin UI color palette: ensure that there is a sufficient contrast ratio for all interactive elements (#52402)
